#1. Pick a book you would like to read
I enjoy a good podcast just like anyone else, BUT there is something therapeutic about holding a REAL book in your hands. IMAGINE the feeling of the pages as you turn them. Your senses will come alive as your brain activates and processes the feel and smell of the book in your hands. Maybe a physical book is old school, but try it out. Skip the podcast this time around. Make this one of your top New Years Resolutions!
Make it a GOAL to read ONE book in 2024. When you do, come back here and visit me. I would love to know what you read, and we can chat 💬.
#2. Commit to decluttering ONE area of your home
Make 2024 the year where you declutter. 🏠 Perhaps it's your junk drawer or your underwear drawer. Perhaps the space under your sink or the file holder on your desk needs some attention. It doesn't matter what it is; pick one item and declutter. Do one small thing if you're not up for a big project like a garage clean-up.
Pick one thing, go ham and declutter it, and then come back here and visit me and let me know what you decluttered and how amazing and accomplished you feel after getting it done. Happy decluttering, friends!👊🏻
#3. Cook a new recipe
"The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking you've got to have a what-the-hell attitude." -Julia Child
Find a recipe that looks amazing. It may be simple or complicated. Perhaps you like the finer things in life. Perhaps you enjoy high-end ingredients. Maybe that's not your style, and you would like to make some pizza dough and slap some toppings on it. That's totally OK!
Step one: find the recipe. It can be from a random cookbook that you found in the library. The library is an amazing resource for FREE things. The recipe can come from favorite blogs or treasured family favorites passed down from generation to generation. These are often the best ones! 🤩 Take a few photos and come back and share your delicious creations.
#4. Drink more water
Forget the diet sodas, and forget the bubbly water. Fizzy drinks in large quantities can make you feel bloated. Set a New Years Resolution to drink more water in 2024!
I know getting enough water can be challenging, so here's my hack for you. Get yourself a fun, pretty cup. It doesn't have to be expensive, just something you enjoy looking at. Have the most bedazzled, colorful cup around. It will make drinking water so much easier. 💎
I have read about adding fruit to water to add some flavor. At times, the budget is tight. Buying extra fruit just to put in water seems pretty wasteful.
I'll be honest. You will have to 🏃♀️ to the bathroom more frequently than usual, but that's OK. Think about how you are cleansing all your organs by filling your body with much-needed water. For 2024 set this as your New Years Resolution, get that cup and fill it up!
#5. Budget
Being more mindful of where dollars are going is a beautiful way to start 2024. It is practical and gives peace of mind in the long run.
There are many apps out there to help track spending habits. Some are free, and some aren't. The EveryDollar app is an example of an easy-to-use app for this purpose.
📎What it's not: FREE
📎What it does:
It will help you budget. You plug in the numbers, and the app tracks it for you. It removes the extra step you would have to do yourself. Knowing where money is going is vital for financial peace. The subscription cost is worth every penny.
Let's be honest; how many of us pay for several subscriptions that we lose track of? You may recognize some of these: Disney, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount, Peacock, Crunchyroll... 👀
For 2024, create a budget. You will be on the road for a brighter and merrier New Years 2024. 😌
#6. Reach out to friends and family more
#8. Date your spouse
How many years have you all been married?
Are there any newly weds are here?
Are there any 20+ years here?
Marriage can be a lot of work, but marriage can also be rewarding.
Bring some excitement back into the marriage by setting a spicy New Years Resolution to date your spouse in 2024. 💞
#9. Clean out your closet
I'm not saying to get matching coordinated hangers. I'm not saying to California closet your closet either: The process can be as simple as chucking 10 of the 200 pairs of shoes👠👢🥾🥿owned. The process can be Marie Kondo style. Figure out if each piece in your closet brings you joy. It doesn't matter how you do it.
Make 2024 more meaningful. Part of that is cleaning your closet. Pick a day of the week. It doesn't matter what day you pick. Make a date with yourself and go through the items in your closet. Then breath a sigh of satisfaction!
#10. Have a mindset of gratitude
"You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book."
-Dr. Seuss
