How to Stay Sane in the Middle of a Snow Storm

Updated: Jan 25

Snow is beautiful, fluffy, and fun to play in. It kisses our noses and tickles our toes. It's easy on the eyes and fills your heart with wonder, but what if this joyous, wonderous snow just kept snowing? What if those teeny, tiny flakes kept falling from the sky, barreling through the air with no end in sight? What if the wonder of its full beauty began to turn to dread with the realization that this was indeed going to be a storm of large proportions?

Worry no more! I have five ✋ideas to share that will help keep you sane as you wait-out the weather.

Tip #1 - Turn up the Heat until it Sizzles

If you're fortunate enough to have a wood burning fire place, get that fire blazing. Create a warm, romantic environment that will keep you coming for more.

Tip #2 - Have your House Smelling like a Snack

Pop some popcorn, 🍿 turn on your favorite movie or show, and grab your favorite blanket. It's time to get cozy! If you're feeling extra adventurous, bake up some cookies 🍪. They're sure to please. These ideas will keep you warm from the inside out.

Tip #3 - Sweat Session

For me personally, when I feel stuck, I like to get in a workout. I enjoy a mixture of cardio and some weight lifting. It elevates your mood and gives you energy while keeping you sane. I like to get my sweat on when I feel like I'm going stir-crazy. I personally use 1stphorm. It's a great app with super coaches and a great community.

Tip #4 - Build a Snowman

For those of you who have small children, this one may come to you, but for those of you who have older children, building a snowman may not be the first thing that comes to mind. Get those teenagers out of the house & build that snowman. Take advantage of the white fluffy, cold snow ❄️ . Every day is a gift. Be in the moment with your big kids.

Tip #5 - Puzzles

Puzzles are a great way to exercise the brain. If you're not used to putting puzzles together, my suggestion is to start with a small puzzle. Find a puzzle that has a variety of colors. Avoid, for example, a black train driving on tracks with a snowy mountain in the background. Your "fun" will quickly turn to frustration!
